Best Direction to Sleep Scientifically

What's the Best Direction to Sleep Scientifically?

Maybe our younger generation does not believe in vastu shastra, although our parents do. Everything in the house is designed according to Vastu. Where to position furniture, the orientation of the entrance, the kitchen, and everything else in Indian households is determined by vastu shastra, and the majority of Indian families believe in this ancient ritual to bring good luck and success.

Ayurveda's Triangle of Health consists of aahar (diet), vihar (balanced life), and nidra (sleep). Restful sleep is highly valued, and Ayurveda, of course, has many advice for improving sleep quality.

There are several questions, such as the direction the head should face while sleeping. Which is the ideal sleeping direction, according to science? Which direction is ideal for sleeping, according to Vastu Shastra and Ayurveda? Which direction should we sleep each day? What is the best sleeping position for a good night's sleep? On which side should we sleep?

In this blog, we’ll try to get answers to all these questions so that you can sleep restfully at night.

Best Direction to Sleep According to Vastu Shastra

Vastu Shastra deals with directions according to ancient science. The goal of Vastu is to create a pleasant environment in which to live and work by utilizing the Panchamahabhutas (the five great elements of ether, air, fire, water, and earth), directions, and energy fields for improved health, wealth, prosperity, and happiness.

If you find it difficult to fall asleep, or wake up frequently at night or have horror dreams, maybe it is time to change your sleeping direction.

According to vastu shastra, the best direction to sleep is to lay your head facing south and feet facing north. According to study, animals naturally align themselves in the north-south direction when sleeping. It is claimed that sleeping in this direction reduces blood pressure and promotes better sleep.

Vastu shastra practitioners believe that both our homes and bodies have energy. The earth has an intense magnetic field. According to experts, in order to improve our quality of life, we must align our vibrational energy with natural energy.

When we arrange our heads to face the south pole of the earth's magnetic field and our feet to the north pole, we produce the opposite polar effect. Studies have demonstrated that this strategy is scientific.

Sleeping in this ideal position can result in lower blood pressure, less headaches, and better quality sleep at night.

Why is South the Best Direction to Sleep?

Sleeping facing South have multiple benefits on your physical as well as mental health:

  • Sleeping in the south direction lowers blood pressure.
  • Helps nerve cells to repair and regenerate.
  • It helps in eliminating sleep deprivation and anxiety disorders.
  • Promotes quality sleep and attracts money and prosperity according to Vastu.

According to Indian mythologies, South is considered as the direction of Lord Yama, God of death. If the feet point towards the south, it might cause nightmares and negative thoughts, as well as shorten one's life.

Direction to Avoid Sleeping in: North

In India it is said that "only dead people sleep facing north". North is considered the worst direction to sleep in, and there are scientific reasons why.

Because of the influence of the earth's magnetic forces, sleeping in this direction can induce blood pressure fluctuations and make it harder for the heart to pump blood. In comparison to those that run down, blood arteries that reach the brain have a delicate hair-like pattern. In some circumstances there is a danger of hemorrhage also.

Also, the blood includes iron, and the magnetic pull of sleeping to the north draws iron, which has an effect on the brain. Sleeping facing north for five to six hours can affect blood circulation.

This can cause headaches and other health problems.
